The mission of Holy Family Catholic School is to integrate faith with each student’s culture, environment and values. This integration develops a student’s relationship with God in a Christian community that fosters service to one another.
Philosophy
Our philosophy is that a good school will provide a child with access to knowledge, but the best school is one that seeks to instill in children a love of learning. While the imparting of knowledge is a necessary component of education, fostering curiosity and a desire to learn new things is an extraordinary, lifelong gift that we impart to our children. Holy Family Catholic School aspires to do both. Holy Family Catholic School represents all that one could seek in a parochial school: an excellent academic program; dedicated, caring teachers; and a primary emphasis on Christian values.
History
Catholic education in Galveston began in 1847 when the Ursuline Academy was established as the first Catholic school for girls in the state of Texas. It was on this site that the Ursuline nuns sheltered more than 1,500 people during the 1900 storm. In 1986, parish schools were consolidated into one, Galveston Catholic School. In 2009, the school was renamed Holy Family Catholic school and became a parish school.
