Forming Future Saints and Scholars
The Birthday Bear Program is a way to honor your child's birthday AND help support our school library by making more hardcover books available to everyone. Here's how it works. At least two weeks before your child's birthday, fill out the request form at the bottom of this page. You may pay on the school website with a credit card or an e-check. Send $25.00 to the school in the form of cash or a check. You can also pay with a credit card in person at the school or over the phone. You can also by credit card on the I Need to Pay tab here on our website. There is a 4% convenience fee for paying with a credit card.
The money is used to purchase a special hardcover Birthday Book for the library. Your child will select a bear they wish to have for the day and a book from the selection provided. Students in grades 5-8 may have a Free Dress Day in lieu of a bear. Mrs. Pomes will place a book plate on the inside cover acknowledging your child’s name and their birthdate.
On their special day the selected themed bear, a bear to hold, and the book will be delivered to the classroom. The bear stays in the classroom with your child for the entire day. At the end of the school day, the bears are returned to the library, and your child brings the book home for the normal checkout period of a week. When your child brings their special book back to the library, it will be displayed on the Birthday Bear shelf, and it will be available for other students to check out.
If your child has a summer birthday, you can pick the day of your choice to celebrate that special summer birthday.
It is important to identify two bear choices on the form in case their first option is already scheduled for another student. This is rare, but it does happen. Please contact Mrs. Pomes at [email protected] if you have any questions.
